I’ve called sunny Savannah, Georgia home for the past four years now! Savannah is a very special place. If you don’t know already Savannah is historical, homey, and haunted. There is soooo much to do/see/eat in Savannah but here are my suggestions!

What to do/see:

If someone asked me what to do in Savannah I would reply with, how much time do you have? There is so much to do in Savannah, but this list is a good start.

  • Take a trolly ride- There are two or three different trolly services that can take you around Savannah explaining all the neat and quirky things. This is also great if you want to learn about the history of Savannah.
  • Visit City Market for live music and eats!
Usually, it is packed here, but this was taken during the quarantine.
  • GET A PRALINE
  • Take a haunted ghost tour (by hearse or foot)
  • Walk along River Street ~Be careful of the steps~
  • Shop on Broughton Street- Broughton Street is located in the heart of downtown Savannah. It is filled with shops, restaurants, and things to do. Some of the stores include Lululemon, MAC, Urban Outfitters, Free People, and Kendra Scott. They also have two vintage/second-hand stores on Broughton, Civvies, and Avalon exchange!
  • Visit Forsyth Park- Forsyth is a gigantic park in Savannah. The outside perimeter of the park is one mile. But there are more sites to see going through the middle! (There is also seating if you get worn-out.)
  • Take a tour of the Sorrel Weed House- The Sorrel Weed House is a super haunted house with lots of history! It is very remarkable.
  • Visit the Telfair Museums- If you only have time for one I would pick the Jepson Center! They have new interactive features. Jepson would also be the best for children because they have a play area on the second floor.
  • Rent bikes to ride throughout the city
  • Walk along Jones Street- Jones Street is without a doubt the prettiest spot in Savannah. This street is jam-packed with huge trees hanging with Spanish moss. Jones Street is a great spot to take photos!
  • Take a trip out to Tybee Island
  • *Most importantly* Day drink in the streets- Savannah allows open containers! This means you can walk around through the historic district with alcoholic drinks. But make sure they are in a see-through container!

Where to eat:

This could be my favorite section of this article. I am such a foodie! I keep a list of places I like and places I want to try. (I also have a list of expensive places to try when my parents are in town.:))

Breakfast

  • Clary’s❤- This is my FAVORITE breakfast place in Savannah. Clary’s is a homey hole-in-the-wall southern breakfast place. I usually get the chocolate chip pancakes. 1. They are huge. 2. They are $6.99. I’ve also had The Elvis, french toast with peanut butter and bananas. It is to die for, so delicious. The staff is approachable and talkative. This is also a great place if you have a big group because they have some larger round tables. This is one of the only places in Savannah that has a parking lot that is FREE.
  • Maple Street Biscuit Co.❤- You. Must. Go. I have no complaints. The food is tremendous. The fresh-squeezed orange juice is the bomb.
  • Back in the Day Bakery
  • The Funky Brunch- It’s located at the end of Broughton Street. It can get busy during the late morning. The food is great, my favorite dish is the hangover. Thank me later. They have indoor seating, outdoor seating, and make-your-own pancake tables!
  • Goose Feathers- Food is a tad expensive for what you get. It is somewhat a tourist place, so it can get pretty busy. But I can’t deny that the food is quite good and it is in a nice location.
  • Big Bon Bodega- They only sell bagels, but they are so fluffy! They are comparable to New York bagels. However, the store has abnormal hours, make sure you check to see if they are open before you go.
  • J. Christophers

Lunch/Dinner

  • Bull Street Taco- My initial thoughts were “A little expensive for a taco” (One taco can range from $3.00 to $5.00) Although, it is well worth the price. Bull Street Taco has one of the best fish tacos I’ve ever had. They offer a nice size of vegan/vegetarian options. The cauliflower taco is vegan but tastes just like chicken. My boyfriend recently tried Bull Street for the first time and agreed it was the best fish taco he had ever had. We both love the fish, chorizo, cauliflower! However, the chicken falls a little short compared to the others. Bull Street also offers indoor and outdoor seating. Lastly, it is in a great location just a short 5-minute walk from Forsyth Park.
  • Tequila Town- The margaritas are so strong here! After two or three you’ll be feeling good. They’re not very expensive either around seven or eight dollars. The tableside guac is homemade and a great go-to for a snack with your margs. Food is good, but people go for the margs and the atmosphere. It’s downtown, right off of Broughton Street.
  • The Public- Love. Love. Love. The only bad thing about The Public is that they don’t take reservations. Nevertheless, I’ve had burgers, stakes, chicken, salads and everything has been so delicious. My parents and I always eat here when they are in town and none of us have had a bad meal. The atmosphere is great here, the staff is friendly, drinks are good and not too outrageously priced. It’s a little higher class, so wear something slightly nice. But it won’t break the bank. Sometimes the wait can be rather lengthy, but trust me, it is worth it!!
  • The Vault Kitchen & Market
  • Sorry Charlie’s Oyster Bar- Big menu, they serve way beyond just oysters. I’ve been here quite a few times. Usually not too busy, the food is tasty, and they just opened a rooftop bar!
  • The Pink House
  • Collins Quarter (Forsyth + Bull St.)- Perfect for your trendy Instagram pictures with incredible food and drinks.
  • Fox and Fig (Vegan restaurant)- Fox and Fig are owned by Foxy Loxy (Coffee place below). This is an entirely vegan restaurant, now I’m not a vegan but, their Fox burger is so scrumptious. They also have delightful milkshakes.

Coffee Shops

  • Foxy Loxy- I could write an entire article about how much I LOVE Foxy Loxy. But, I will try to keep it short. I put them under Coffee Shops, but they have so much more than coffee. They have breakfast foods, pastries, tacos, dips, cheese boards, quiches, mimosas, and amazing coffee. Honestly, most of my money in college went to Foxy Loxy. Foxy also owns Henny Penny, Coffee Fox, and Fox and Fig. They’re all slightly different but have similar things. However, for me, Foxy Loxy is the mothership. They have a back patio with lots of seating and from time-to-time, they will have live music. Foxy is perfect for people of all ages and families. There is a lot of indoor seating as well! My recommendations: The chipotle chicken taco, gluten-free lemon bar, egg and cheese kolache, energy bites, or and ice horchata latte. Overall the Foxy chain gets a 10/10 from me!
  • Savannah Coffee Roasters- This place is solid! They have great coffee and breakfast sandwiches. The coffee is a little more expensive but does taste great. I think it’s around $5 for a small iced coffee.
  • Mirabelle- Super cute little place, very instagrammable. Right across the street from St. Paul’s Cathedral so it has an awesome view. There is very limited seating! Mirabelle’s is more of a coffee-to-go kind of place! They also serve small waffles and other pastries.
  • Gallery Espresso
  • Maté Factor

Bars

  • Peregrin- Peregrin is a Rooftop Bar with no cover! The drinks are a little more expensive but the views are amazing. They have A LOT of seating and little corn hole sets to keep you entertained. I would definitely check it out.
  • Whitaker’s- This bar is fun and entertaining, especially with a group. They have massive Jenga, televisions, billiards, darts, a photo booth, and a very instagrammable hallway covered in string lights. The drinks are pretty standard but this place stands out because there’s always a lot to do here and they usually play upbeat music.
  • The Grove- They have 3 floors, the bottom is a bar/restaurant. The second floor is a dance floor with a DJ. Finally, the roof has another bar that is filled with lots of fancy seating. One of my favorite things about The Grove is their 164oz moscow mule, the Cool Mule. I love to come here with friends, split the mule, and enjoy each others company.
  • Two Tides
  • Moodrights- This place is more of the college scene. Moodrights is in midtown Savannah so it is a little further from downtown. Moodrights has old-time bar vibes going on. They have a pool table, duck bowling, and a little place to stand outside. The drinks are typical for Savannah. It’s a nice place but most definitely a hole in the wall bar.
  • Barrel House- Barrel House always has a tremendous live band! They have a downstairs area to sit and talk along with a few pool tables.
  • Social Club
